How I Created "What's in a name?"

1. In order to create and even start my project, I first had to save photos that reminded me of myself. With this in mind, I went and saved a few photos to my Mac to start myself off. Some of these photos included my favorite pieces of media (Gilmore Girls, Animal Crossing, The Song of Achilles), musical artists (BTS, Taylor Swift, NCT 127) as well as my pride flags. I then opened Photoshop from my desktop and created a new project (8.5x11, set to landscape mode). Once this was done, I used the text tool to write my name. I selected a font I thought would fit a sufficient amount of photos, and I began to work. With every photo I inserted into the project, I had to create a clipping mask for it, which I did by right-clicking on the particular layer I was working on at the time and selecting release clipping mask. I repeated this process for 20+ photos until I filled up the black spaces in my name. It was then time to create my 3 pop-outs, which I did by selecting the layer I wanted to pop out, duplicating it, and creating a layer mask. The pop-outs I did were Gihun from Squid Game's head, a Sims 3 Plumbob, a gay pride flag, a coffee cup, and a pink butterfly. I then added drop shadow by clicking the fx button and selecting drop shadow. I played around with the settings until it fit my liking, and then I saved my document as a PNG to my desktop.

2. In photoshop, clipping masks allow you to group layers together and apply a mask. Using this tool differs from the eraser tool as it hides something rather than simply erasing it. I will use this tool in the future to neatly layer my photos together if they need to be masked.

3. Masking everything the way I wanted worked out successfully for me; I am satisfied with the results. As for my pop-outs, I feel they could have been cleaner but then again this is my first time working with the pop-out tools. Next time, I will have more knowledge of how to work these tools therefore my results will come out cleaner and nicer.

4. I think my project scores a solid 3. I say this because I followed all the steps thoroughly and did what was required of me.
